Are You The Light Keeper of Your Lighthouse?
Lighthouses have become a personal interest to me. In our recent travels, my wife and I make sure to visit a lighthouse if one is near. Each one has an interesting history and story to learn. Many are very old and we want to visit more before they start to disappear.
They intrigue me, these giant, beautiful buildings. I am fascinated that they serve as a navigation system for ships. It seems like that wouldn’t even be possible, yet I think about the men and women who acted as light keepers and managed these structures. I respect the responsibility they must have felt and how hard that job would really be.
Lighthouses are strong; they stand the test of so many different weather patterns – strong waves and forceful winds.
Maybe I love them so much because they remind me of myself. It took me a while, but I realized how strong I really was, how I was the light keeper of my own lighthouse, and no crashing wave or scary wind in my life could stop me.
I could manage whatever was coming and I could withstand anything, stronger for it.
You have that very same power. If you haven’t been able to tap into it yet, maybe you need another light keeper to help. That is where I come in. I can help you find your way.
To look at it another way, some relationships are like lighthouses in our life. They are strong and meant to last. And some, well some are like the lighthouses that have disappeared. They weren’t made to stand the test of time. They crumbled…the foundation was weak. And some even still are right in the middle. A conflict, a crack is visible and it’s time to repair and rebuild.
